Andrea Jeremiah is an Tamil playback singer, voice actor and a film and theatre actress. Beginning her career singing playback, Andrea has gone on to appear in critically acclaimed films such as Pachaikili Muthucharam and Aayirathil Oruvan, winning praise for her portrayals.
Career
Andrea was born as the eldest child into an Anglo-Indian nuclear family in Arakkonam, Tamil Nadu. She was brought up in Chennai and graduated from the Women’s Christian College. Her father is a lawyer at the High Court in Chennai, while her mother is a home-maker. She has one younger sister, who currently lives and works at Leuven, Belgium as a research assistant. From the age of 10, Andrea was part of a Jackson Five-style troupe called Young Stars which formed the base of her early singing career. She was also a theatre artist in her college and appeared in several stage plays organised by Madras Players and EVAM. She also launched a company named The Show Must Go On (TSMGO Productions) to promote live art and artistes.
She later ventured into playback singing in feature films, too. After rendering a song in Gautham Menon’s Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu, she got an offer by the director to essay a lead female character in his next venture Pachaikili Muthucharam opposite R. Sarath Kumar, which she took up. Pachaikili Muthucharam was a film adaptation of James Siegel’s novel Derailed, with Andrea portraying Kalyani, a homemaker, whose husband engages in an affair and is blackmailed. Andrea was selected for the role after noted actresses Simran, Shobana and Tabu were approached. She subsequently received more offers to star in films, but the only project she eventually signed was Selvaraghavan’s fantasy-adventure film Aayirathil Oruvan, which released in early 2010. In 2011, she agreed to play a minor supporting role in Venkat Prabhu’s multi-starrer Mankatha, which was released in late August 2011. She will be next seen in a pivotal roles alongside Kamal Haasan in Vishwaroopam and Silambarasan and Rana Daggubati in Vetrimaaran’s Vada Chennai.

Anita Hassanandan was born 14 April 1981, also known as Natassha, is an Indian model, film and television actress. Model turned actress Anita, who was first seen in the small screen in Balaji Telefilm’s show ‘Kabhi Sauten Kabhi Saheli’, is now coming back to small screen after more than two years. She was last seen in television in ‘Kahaani Hamaaray Mahaabhaarat Ki’ in which she played the role of Draupadi. Since then, Anita was seen only in the reality shows like ‘Fear Factor – Khatron Ke Khiladi’, ‘Comedy Circus Ka Jadoo’, and ‘Dancing Queen’. It will be her first fiction on television after playing Draupadi. The bubbly actress was not accepted as the docile Draupadi and Ekta could not be successful with the show.
The upcoming show will see Anita acting opposite Ajay Singh Chaudhary from ‘Love Story’. The yet untitled thriller show is being made by Vikram Bhatt and will be a weekly show. It is likely to start in a few months on a leading GEC and shooting for it has already started. In the meantime, Anita has also acted in the films like ‘Ek Se Bure Do’, ‘Benny and Babloo’ and ‘Dus Kahaniyan’. However, Anita is hesitant to disclose anything about this upcoming project, saying that it is too early to reveal anything now. But she promised to speak about it once things are finalized. Well, it will be tough for her to take a decision coming out of the shelter of her mentor Ekta Kapoor.
Career
Hassanandani is best known for acting in Balaji Telefilms and has also acted in Tamil, Hindi, Kannada, and Telugu films. After her success as a model for EverYuth, Sunsilk, Boroplus and other brands, she made her debut on the television screen in Ekta Kapoor’s daytime soap Kabhii Sautan Kabhii Sahelii. She made her Hindi film debut with the 2003 Thriller film Kucch To Hai produced by Balaji Telefilms. She later worked for Balaji Telefilms again in the films Krishna Cottage, a supernatural thriller; and Koi Aap Sa. She also starred in the television show Kavyanjali, playing the protagonist Anjali, a middle class girl marrying into a business tycoon’s family. Other than her mainstream Bollywood film and television screen performances, she also worked in some South Indian movies including ‘Nenupelliki ready’ and ‘Thotti gang’. ‘Nuvvu Nenu ‘ was a hit Telugu movie; later the movie was remade with the name Yeh Dil in Hindi with Ekta Kapoor’s brother Tusshar Kapoor.

A Behindwoods critic wrote that she was “a delight to watch and spellbinds the viewer with her beautiful fresh look and her performance”, while Pavithra Srinivasan of Rediff described her as “a breath of fresh air” and “the perfect foil to Jeeva’s plethora of emotions”. Her performance earned her the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debutante as well as the Vijay Award for Best Debut Actress for that year, and she grew in popularity, leading her to several more offers, albeit the film proved commercially unsuccessful.
